Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy

What is Craniosacral Therapy?

CST has developed from clinical experience within the field of osteopathy. It is a hands-on therapy which is thought to assist the body’s natural capacity for self-repair. CST is non-diagnostic.

The mindset of CST practitioners and their beliefs about health, illness and bodily functions are different from those of conventional medical practitioners.

CST is not provided on the NHS - all those who have sessions do so by self-referral. Practitioners working with CST have supported clients with:

  • stress related conditions
  • mental illness
  • physical pain
  • emotional problems

My personal approach

I offer a calm healing environment in comfortable surroundings to help your body to settle. This provides the optimum conditions to enable the body to resolve underlying health issues. In my experience of working with holistic therapies such as biodynamic craniosacral work, when the body feels safe and comfortable and I am fully present with my client, then shifts can occur, sometimes on different levels.

I need 48 hours’ notice of cancellation, otherwise the full fee will be charged.

  • Are sessions confidential?

Yes they are. Information will not be disclosed to another party unless there is a need and I have your permission. Information about your sessions is not held on any computer or digital device.

  • Do you tell my GP?

I usually discuss this with you at the start of our work. It may be a good idea if your GP is aware, if he/she is already involved in your treatment. I myself would not inform your GP without your consent.

  • What can I expect in the first session?

Treatment sessions are conducted in a relaxing atmosphere. You will receive an initial treatment, and then subsequent sessions will be agreed with you in relation to your specific needs. The session is done with you remaining fully clothed, usually with you lying down on the treatment table. I work with light, sensitive touch and no manipulations or pressures. Through my hands I may become aware of what is going on in your body. You may become aware of heat, gentle pulsations or tingling in your body, and you may feel a deep sense of relaxation.

Please note: Biodynamic integration sessions are different from CST sessions in that they are conducted online, although the practitioner and recipient are in continuous verbal and visual communication throughout. Whilst you may be aware of similar subjective sensations and feelings in your body, your overall experience and perceived benefits of the session may well be different from a CST treatment where there is actual physical touch.

  • Is the treatment setting 'COVID-Safe'?

As and when required, treatment will be given in a 'COVID-Safe' environment which conforms to current Public Health England and Government laws and guidelines. This includes the wearing of face coverings and additional PPE by the practitioner.
